|
State legislators are considering a proposal to privatize and sell up to six
Ohio prisons. While private prison operators promise states cost savings, various
studies have called into question whether privatization saves any money at all.
In addition, research has shown private prisons have higher incidences of
assault, resist transparency and accountability, increase recidivism, and avoid
paying taxes to local communities.
