ACLU of Ohio
Freedom Tour 2011 - Prisons For Profit: A Discussion of Prison
				Privatization
Join People for Effective & Safe Prisons for a panel discussion of prison privatization.

Illustration of inmate with ball and chain State legislators are considering a proposal to privatize and sell up to six Ohio prisons. While private prison operators promise states cost savings, various studies have called into question whether privatization saves any money at all. In addition, research has shown private prisons have higher incidences of assault, resist transparency and accountability, increase recidivism, and avoid paying taxes to local communities.

The ACLU of Ohio, Ohio Civil Services Employees Association, and Policy Matters Ohio are coming to a community near you to talk about the dangers of prison privatization.
