Support Community Policing

Our community police officers have a difficult job – traffic control, investigating and pursuing criminals, and watching over the safety of our neighborhoods.

But a bill pending before the Ohio legislature would make their jobs more difficult.

Senate Bill 260 would take away scarce time and resources from community policing by inviting the federal government to misuse our local police to assist federal immigration officers in conducting investigations of non-criminal immigration matters.

  • Our local police are already overworked and often underpaid.
  • SB 260 is bad for public safety because it would send a message that immigrant communities should fear the police rather than trust them.
  • Investigating non-criminal immigration matters is work that should be conducted and paid for by the federal government, not the state or municipalities.

Read the Bill here.

Please contact your Representative today and urge them to to oppose SB 260.
