The Nominating Process

In accordance with the ACLU of Ohio and ACLU of Ohio Foundation by-laws and affirmative action policy, the Nominating Committee recruits potential candidates throughout the year from ACLU activists, coalition partners, and community leaders. The committee meets in February to consider qualifications of candidates, review affirmative action data and skills needs of the board, and to interview candidates in person. The committee holds a follow-up meeting to select candidates for the slate who demonstrate the strongest leadership abilities and commitment to civil liberties, and who at the same time help the board meet mandated affirmative action goals and bring identified needed skills to the board.
