Policy Counsel/Strategist

Position Available in Columbus Office

February 2018

The American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio is hiring! We are seeking a motivated professional with community and policy advocacy experience to fill the position of Policy Counsel/Strategist. This staff member will lead the implementation and management of a new policy campaign focused on increasing access for women seeking abortion services in Ohio. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits. This position is grant-funded, with funding secured for three years.

The Policy Counsel/Strategist will work directly with law enforcement, local government leadership, clinic service providers, and community members to create and implement local policies that will bolster access to reproductive health care for women, and improve relationships between community members and police. A successful candidate will understand the intersectionality of reproductive rights, police practices, racial justice, and free speech, and be able to navigate these issues skillfully.

Ideal candidates will have outstanding verbal and written communication skills, an outgoing personality, an ability to travel, and experience in social justice advocacy. While legal experience is useful, a J.D. is not required.

For nearly 100 years, the American Civil Liberties Union has been at the forefront of every major battle for civil liberties and social justice in this country.
