Surveillance at Mosques
On February 23, 2011, the ACLU of Southern California and the Council on American-Islamic Relations filed suit against the Federal Bureau of Investigations after revelations that they placed informants in mosques to spy on innocent Americans. From 2006-2007, an FBI informant posed as a Muslim convert and collected information on others at the mosque. Reportedly, the FBI directed the informant to specifically target devout Muslims.
