Shirley R. Johnson was interviewed on September 26, 2011 in her Oberlin, Ohio home by Colleen Benoit as part of the ACLU of Ohio's Oral History Project. Shirley was 94 years old at the time. She was a co-founder of the Yellow Springs and North Central Ohio ACLU chapters, as well as the ACLU of Ohio. A tireless advocate for civil liberties, she served in a wide array of ACLU leadership positions since the 1940's.
