Cleveland’s Community Police Commission (CPC) was mandated by the consent decree. It serves to represent community voices and interests in the reform process, and develop recommendations that reflect an understanding of the values and priorities of Cleveland residents. As such, the CPC depends on public participation. Please consider attending their monthly meetings to add your voice to the conversation on police reform in Cleveland.

Citizens for a Safer Cleveland is a diverse coalition of concerned organizations, activists, and individuals – with the leadership of families who have lost a loved one to police violence – who are working together to pass a common-sense approach to police oversight, establishing independent investigations of police misconduct and giving power back to our communities. Issue 24 will expand the powers of the Civilian Police Review Board, make the role of the Community Police Commission permanent, and ensure investigations into police misconduct are truly independent. Issue 24 be on the 2021 ballot in Cleveland.

The call for Black lives to matter is a rallying cry for ALL Black lives striving for liberation.

Puncture the Silence began as an answer to the Stop Mass Incarceration Network‘s call in October 2014 for a month of resistance to the New Jim Crow. This is our answer to Michelle Alexander’s call for a movement for racial justice in her book “The New Jim Crow.” Since then, we have continued our efforts to “puncture the silence” about the discriminatory injustices incarcerating a generation of youth of color. It is our moral responsibility to bring awareness to the New Jim Crow and ultimately end it.
