* All participants wishing to march should gather on the High Street side of the Statehouse. Posters will be provided and a rally marshall will lead marchers around the Statehouse.

* Please stop by the “Take Action!” table during or after the rally to write a letter to your state legislators and the governor, urging them to halt executions. Sample letters, paper and pens will be provided. All completed letters will be delivered to the General Assembly and Governor’s offices at the conclusion of the day of action.

Keynote Speaker Sam Millsap

Sam MillsapA former Bexar County (Texas) District Attorney, Sam Millsap, through his experience in the criminal justice system, has come to the conclusion that the capital punishment system is irreparably flawed. He states, “The system as it relates to capital murder is simply broken. It’s my view that because it’s driven by human beings and decisions that are made are by human beings, it can’t be fixed, and that as a result is the option to put people to death has to end.”
