Alan S. Konop
Attorney
The ACLU of Northwest Ohio will present its Annual Award to
prominent Toledo defense attorney Alan S. Konop.
A graduate of the University of Toledo College of Law, Konop has
served the community for over forty years. Currently, he is
representing the family of Joseph
Lewis Clark in a lawsuit filed against the Southern Ohio
Correctional Facility for his botched execution. Through this
case, Konop and the Clark family hope to start an open
discussion of the problems plaguing Ohio’s execution system.
In addition to his work in the courtroom, Mr. Konop is the
president of the Toledo Police Athletic League. He is a founder
and board member of Mountain Mentors, a non-profit organization
that pairs at-risk youth with mentors who take them on
wilderness trips to New Hampshire. He recently completed his
second term on the Board of Community Relations.
