Call Governor Strickland to stop executions now! |
| |
 |
We must continue to urge Governor Strickland to
halt ALL executions indefinitely. |
Update 12.08.09 On December 8, 2009, Ohio became the first state anywhere to execute someone using a never before used one-drug lethal injection method.
Please call (614) 466-3555 or
email
the governor with this message: "Ohio should abandon the death penalty. Making superficial changes does not solve the many problems with Ohio's death penalty. The system is fundamentally broken and should be abolished."
By rushing to implement these experimental new procedures, the risk is greater than ever that something may go wrong in the execution chamber. Also, they do not address the reality that Ohio’s execution team is ill-equipped and unqualified to perform these complex medical procedures.
In light of overwhelming problems with past executions, the state announced
new lethal injection procedures
would go into effect November 30, 2009. Despite the experimental nature of these new protocols, the state rushed to implement these new unproven procedures less than a month later on December 8, 2009.
Please call Governor Ted Strickland and tell him to put an end to executions. His number is (614) 466-3555. You can also email
governor.info@governor.ohio.gov or contact him electronically
here.
Thank you,
The ACLU of Ohio Legislative Team
PS – Please let us know once you have contacted Governor Strickland and if you receive a response. We can be reached at (216) 472-2200 or
