Keeping America Safe and Free
Reform the Patriot Act
  Don't Spy on Me

Eight years ago, Bush administration officials rushed the USA Patriot Act through Congress, instituting policies that threatened core civil liberties in a misguided attempt to keep us safe from terrorism.

Updated 11.03.09 Several of the most troubling provisions are up for renewal, and some courageous lawmakers have proposed bills that would protect our most cherished rights. The bill in the U.S. Senate is called the JUSTICE Act and the USA Patriot Amendments Act in the U.S. House.

Call your Representative and Senators now and tell them to support the important reforms included in the JUSTICE Act and the USA Patriot Amendments Act in any Patriot Act reauthorization.

Some of the reforms include:

  • Curtailing the government’s ability to collect the records of innocent people having no direct connection to an actual terrorism suspect.
  • Allowing courts to decide whether a national security gag order is necessary.
  • Protecting the privacy of communications by amending last year's sweeping FISA Amendments Act to better protect Americans' phone calls and emails.

Please call your federal legislators today and urge them to support these critical reforms.

Thank you,
