During the summer months, the group held a lecture series. Topics included:
Myths & Stereotypes: The Truth About Immigration Reform; A New Threat to Privacy: Real ID; and
Restore Lost Liberties.
In September, the working group hosted a program on Ohio’s death penalty system entitled
Fixing Justice: The Need for Change in Ohio’s Death Penalty, featuring a panel of experts from around the state. The panel, consisting of Kunta Kenyatta, president of Ohio-CURE (Citizens United for Rehabilitation of Errants), Greg Meyers, chief counsel to the Office of the Ohio Public Defender, and Timothy Ahrens, pastor of the First Congregational Church United Church of Christ, provided insight on this controversial issue.

On October 10, 2007, the ACLU of Ohio Freedom Tour, “UnReal: What the New National ID Means for You,” hit Columbus. Raneta Lawson Mack, professor of law at Creighton University discussed the security, privacy, cost and constitutional problems of the Real ID Act of 2005 and what Ohioans can do to stop its implementation.

Most recently, the group premiered the first episode of the second season of the
ALCU Freedom Files television series entitled Freedom from Government Spying: Surveillance on November 14. This episode followed four people who have been affected by the U.S. government’s illegal surveillance program and decided to stand up for their rights by challenging the system.
