Chapters and working groups help promote the efforts of the ACLU in
their communities. They educate the public on civil liberties issues
following the principles, policies, and
mission of the ACLU. Members decide how to do the educating -- through
activities such as a Living Room Liberties gathering, guest speakers,
letter writing and lobbying, or staffing booths at community events. In
addition, these groups help identify local civil liberties issues and
work with ACLU staff to design a civil liberties response or make
recommendations for further investigation.
