Recent activity

On April 29, 2007, the North Central Chapter hosted its annual meeting, “Liberty Lost: Racial Profiling Since 9/11.”  Ahmad Al-Akhras, activist with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), ACLU of Ohio board member and president of the Islamic Foundation of Central Ohio, was the featured speaker.  Dr. Al-Akhras discussed why racial profiling is a threat to civil liberties and how it influences individual rights.  To learn more about racial profiling, please visit the racial justice section of our website.

More recently, in August 2007 the North Central Chapter participated in celebrating Women’s Equality Day by joining with other local organizations to commemorate the anniversary of women gaining the right to vote.

The North Central Chapter is always seeking new activists.  If you are interested in becoming more involved with the ACLU locally, please send an email indicating your interest to contact@acluohio.org.
