Career Opportunity
Campaigns Director
ACLU of Ohio
Columbus, Ohio
November 2018

For nearly 100 years, the American Civil Liberties Union has been at the forefront of every major battle for civil liberties and social justice in this country. As leaders of the resistance, the ACLU brings together activists from all walks of life in the advancement of equality, fairness, and freedom, especially for the most vulnerable in our society.

The ACLU of Ohio seeks a Campaigns Director to lead the organization’s outreach and mobilization efforts in bail reform – and eventually other Campaign for Smart Justice-related priorities – through data-driven campaign strategies, amplified public engagement, organizing tools, and policy savvy, with the goal of achievable wins. A member of the senior management team, the Campaigns Director will build and lead a department focused on carrying out campaign goals.

Ideal candidates for the position will have considerable experience running successful legislative, ballot, issue or political campaigns, with a sophisticated understanding of how to tie together and organize around research, legal analysis, litigation, lobbying, and communications. Proficiency in relationship building and mass mobilization is also important. Leadership, management, supervision and communications skills are critical.

This is an exciting opportunity to advance social justice with a dynamic nonprofit organization. The successful candidate is not only joining the ACLU of Ohio, but also a network of national and state ACLU affiliates working to end mass incarceration across the country.
