10 – United States Supreme Court

The ACLU of Ohio presented oral arguments in our voter purge case at the United States Supreme Court. MORE

 
 

20 – 2nd Annual Women’s March

Ohioans in several cities across the state marched and protested on the anniversary of the Women’s March. MORE

15 – Reproductive Rights Lawsuit

The ACLU of Ohio filed litigation to challenge the state’s Down syndrome Abortion Ban. MORE

12 – March For Our Lives

The ACLU of Ohio urged civil discourse during the nationwide school walkouts and March For Our Lives. MORE

 
 

15 – Detention of Asylum seekers

The ACLU of Ohio filed litigation to challenge the arbitrary detention of asylum seekers. MORE

 
 

29 – Transgender Equality Lawsuit

The ACLU of Ohio filed litigation to challenge the state’s discriminatory Birth Certificate Policy towards transgender individuals. MORE

24 – Collateral Sanctions Videos

The ACLU of Ohio released a video mini-series on Collateral Sanctions during National Reentry Week. MORE

22 – “Stand Your Ground” Legislation

The ACLU of Ohio spoke out against the state’s “Stand Your Ground” legislation. MORE

 
 

23 – Gerrymandered Maps

The ACLU of Ohio filed litigation to challenge the state’s U.S. Congressional Maps as Partisan Gerrymandering. MORE

June

8 – Prevent Deportations

The ACLU of Ohio urged federal legislators to prevent the deportation of Ohio workers who were arrested during the slew of ICE raids in Sandusky, Salem, Norwalk, and other Ohio municipalities. MORE

 
 

10 – ACLU Membership Conference

Activists from across the state and some ACLU of Ohio staff members attended the ACLU National Membership Conference in Washington D.C. MORE

18 – Racial Disparities in Justice

The ACLU of Ohio spoke out against the dismissal of a wrongful death lawsuit, stemming from the killing of a black man by a white police officer. MORE

August

8 – Instagram Account Launch

The ACLU of Ohio launched our first-ever Instagram account along with our Youth Ambassador Pilot Program. MORE

 
 

13 – Mayor’s Courts Campaign

The ACLU of Ohio released an animated short video on Mayor’s Courts along with an interactive map. MORE

 
 

27 – Bail Reform Public Opinion Poll

The ACLU of Ohio released results to first-ever statewide public opinion poll on voters’ attitudes about bail. MORE

20 – Bail Artwork Reveal

The new bail artwork was unveiled at Waterloo Arts Center, kicking off the new phase of Bail Reform Campaign. MORE

 
 

25 – Ohio Legislative Scorecard

The ACLU of Ohio released our first-ever Ohio Legislative Scorecard. MORE

 
 

25 – LGBTQ Non-discrimination Ordinance

Cuyahoga County passed legislation to protect LGBTQ community members; the ACLU of Ohio testified in favor of this proposal. MORE

18 – Homeless Rights

ACLU of Ohio files suit to strike ruling that bans homeless encampments in Hamilton County. MORE

The 26th Annual Ed and Belle Likover Lecture, “One Night Only” with our guest Ike Barinholtz, actor, comedian, and voter rights advocate. MORE
