Our Take on This Bill

While the ACLU of Ohio believes that the safety of Ohio’s students is an important issue to address, we find the reliance on metal detectors to curb violence to be a misguided and problematic legislative response. Beyond the constitutional concerns that arise with metal detectors in schools, metal detectors do not solve the underlying causes of school violence.
