Rich Saphire was interviewed on August 12, 2013 in Dayton, Ohio by Emily Wicks as a part of our Oral History Project. Rich has served as a board member and volunteer attorney since the late 1970s. He acted as the board’s vice president from 1980 to 1981 and again from 1983 to 1986. In 2013, he was elected general counsel and is currently serving in that position. Legal cases mentioned in this interview include Dayton Fraternal Order of Police v. City of Dayton (1982), Ohio Civil Rights Commission v. Dayton Christian Schools (1986), Haynes v. Marshall (1989), Secora v. Fox (1994), and Stewart v. Blackwell (2007).
