Sue Carter was interviewed on Thursday July 19, 2018 at the Max Wohl Civil Liberties Center in Cleveland, Ohio by Intern Meghan DeVol as part of the ACLU of Ohio's Oral History Project. Sue has been an avid activist over the years, dedicating her time to organizations including Veterans for Peace, the National Organization for Women and, of course, the ACLU of Ohio. Sue served on the Board of Directors for 25 years, with 10 years as president. In this interview Sue shares stories about her years as an advocate for justice, and discusses historic ACLU cases like Charon v. Hull, National Socialist Party v. Skokie, and Tinker v. Des Moines.
