Bio
Natalie Johnson serves as an Advocacy Strategist for the ACLU of Ohio’s Policy and Advocacy team overseeing recruitment and development of the Southeast Ohio Action Team.
First joining the ACLU of Ohio in the Fall of 2022, Natalie was quickly thrown into the world of field organizing. Overseeing volunteer signature collection and get-out-the-vote efforts for the 2023 Right to Reproductive Freedom campaign in several Southeast Ohio counties, Natalie developed several regional ‘hubs’ of ACLU of Ohio activists. Known as the Action Team, these activist hubs are critical to overseeing how ACLU of Ohio values and policy interests are shaping out in Southeast Ohio communities.
The Southeast Ohio Action Team, under the leadership of Natalie, has been integral in multiple statewide signature collection and GOTV efforts, curating and hosting voting rights educational forums and workshops, and developing relationships with local lawmakers.
Natalie graduated from Marietta College in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a secondary focus in economics and leadership studies. As a McDonough Scholar of Leadership, she spent much of her free time volunteering with local organizations with missions in food security, environmentalism, and economic justice. It was through this service that she found her passion for community organizing and ultimately led her to the Policy and Advocacy team at the ACLU of Ohio.
Today, Natalie likes to spend her free time outdoors hiking, swimming, and riding her bike. She has also gone on multiple cross-country road trips to see her favorite bands, enjoys reading economic theory, and is currently working towards her 200h yoga teacher certification.
