Federal Judge Grants ACLU of Ohio Request, Temporarily Stopping ICE Retaliation Against Peaceful Observer in Springfield

On Friday, September 4, a federal judge granted a temporary restraining order in the ACLU of Ohio case against ICE officers who violated a peaceful observer's First Amendment rights in Springfield. The court found that Mr. Moorman’s claim was likely to succeed and entered this order to stop ICE’s retaliation while the case is ongoing. A hearing is scheduled for September 16.
“We are very pleased that the Court has quickly and decisively ordered these ICE officers to put a stop to their campaign of intimidation. ICE watchers like our client, Sean Moorman, have every right to observe law enforcement in public, and no one should have to choose between their constitutional rights and their family’s safety,” offered David Carey, Managing Legal Director for the ACLU of Ohio.
