Amid growing support for marriage equality and the legalization of same-sex marriages in several states, the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in support of marriage equality in California and the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Susan Becker, professor, Cleveland State University - Cleveland-Marshall College of Law discusses the outcome of these two important Supreme Court decisions.

Professor Becker is a nationally recognized expert on LGBT rights and the law, and is past president of the ACLU of Ohio.

This program was part of the ACLU Summer Series, and was held in Cleveland and Columbus.

Here's an additional resource: After DOMA: What it Means For You is a fact sheet series that details many of the ways federal agencies accord legal respect to married same-sex couples.
