Today the ACLU of Ohio filed a brief on behalf of the National Association of Social Workers, including its Ohio Chapter (NASW), as amicus curiae to the Ohio Supreme Court in the case In re LES.

On August 29th, the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas granted a preliminary injunction in a case filed on behalf of abortion clinics and health care providers.

Today, the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas granted our request to temporarily block several Ohio laws that together forced abortion patients to wait a minimum of 24 hours after receiving unnecessary state-mandated information in person before accessing their desired abortion care.

Late Thursday, the American Civil Liberties Union, the ACLU of Ohio, and the global law firm Goodwin filed a motion in the 10th District Court of Appeals, asking for an injunction to halt the enforcement of  House Bill 68 pending appeal.

Today, the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas rejected our challenge to House Bill 68, Ohio’s law banning gender-affirming medical care for trans youth, and prohibiting trans women and girls from participating in sports.

On July 15, the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas will begin a five-day trial in a challenge brought by two Ohio families and their transgender daughters against Ohio’s ban on gender-affirming medical care charging the law with violating the Ohio state constitution. 

Today, the American Civil Liberties Union, the ACLU of Ohio, and the law firm of Covington & Burling filed a motion for summary judgment in LWV of Ohio v. LaRose, asking a federal court to strike down the restrictions in House Bill 458.
