This emergency elections case is fallout from our victory in LWVO v. LaRose, a federal case challenging barriers to disabled voters enacted by HB 458.

HB458 makes it a felony for anyone not on a limited list of government workers and relatives to assist a disabled Ohioan with their ballot. This significantly impairs access to the ballot for people with disabilities and violates several federal laws.

Mr. Urbanek’s illegal voting conviction is inconsistent with federal voting rights. HAVA requires that states allow a voter to complete a provisional ballot when their registration status or eligibility cannot be verified immediately. That's what he did.

On November 20, 2021, Governor DeWine signed S.B. 258 into law, adopting a heavily gerrymandered Congressional district plan for the next four years.

Ohio’s scheme of matching voters’ signatures on absentee ballot applications and on return envelopes containing absentee ballots is unconstitutional because it denies voters sufficient opportunity to learn about and correct alleged mismatches.
