Take Your Souls to the Polls: Voting Early in Ohio
During the 2008 presidential elections, many African-American churches took advantage of early voting to promote 'take your souls to the polls' - programs that encouraged voting by taking church members directly from Sunday services to the polls.
Here, three prominent pastors - Aaron Phillips of Sure House Baptist Church, Larry Harris of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, and Emmitt T. Caviness of Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church - talk about the importance of voting, and especially early voting, to their communities.
