Nov. 7 is rapidly approaching and that means Ohio voters only have a handful of days to decide how they will vote on two critically important Statewide Issues. At its simplest, Issue 2 is a ballot initiative to legalize marijuana for adult-use in Ohio, regulating it just as the state does alcohol.

Over the course of years, Ohio has been slowly untangling the quagmire of driver’s licenses suspensions in a way that gets more of us right with the law and on the road to health, education, family, and work. Senate Bill 37 is the right vehicle for these important changes.

The ACLU of Ohio supports SB 296 because it makes much-needed, wise changes and updates to our current laws regarding drug overdose issues. It does this in several ways.

SB 288 improves current law, but only slightly; SB 288 adds drug paraphernalia and instruments to the list of criminal laws one might receive immunity from when contacting emergency services because of an overdose.

This session is far worse than past ones as the Republicans in the General Assembly choose secrecy and darkness over transparency and accountability in numerous, impactful ways
