DAYTON—The League of Women Voters of Greater Dayton, Community Services for the Deaf, and the Deaf Community Resource Center, the ACLU of Ohio, and the Montgomery County Board of Elections are hosting Deaf Voter Participation Day on March 9th, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
COLUMBUS—Today the ACLU of Ohio sent a letter to Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted requesting that he issue a directive that clearly affirms the ability of 17 year olds to vote in the presidential primary if they will be 18 by the time of the general election.
COLUMBUS—Today the ACLU of Ohio gave testimony to the Ohio House Local Government Committee on House Bill 407, which attempts to put in place standards for the use of police body worn cameras. The ACLU expressed concerns about the lack of specific guidance in the proposed legislation.
COLUMBUS—Today, the Supreme Court of Ohio ruled 5-2 that the sale of Lake Erie Correctional Institution did not violate the state Constitution. The prison was sold in 2011 to Corrections Corporation of America for over $72 million.
