- A: Ann Ruege
- Q: What pronouns do you use?
- A: She/her/hers
- Q: What is your title and which department do you work in?
- A: Development Officer- Development Department
- Q: Did you have any past positions at the ACLU of Ohio?
- A: I began as Development Manager and recently transitioned to the new role of Development Officer.
- Q: Which office do you work in?
- A: Columbus!
- Q: When did you start working at the ACLU of Ohio?
- A: September 2016
- Q: What projects are you currently working on?
- A: Right now we're working on department expansion and are searching for a Development Associate to join the team. That position will be based in the Columbus office, so I'll be doing a lot of the training and on-boarding once we hire someone! I'm also collaborating on our civil liberties snapshot which should be published next month, keep a look out! Lastly, I'm developing some upcoming events to increase engagement within the Columbus community.
- Q: What issue area are you most passionate about?
- A: Reproductive rights. As we celebrate the 45th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we must realize that Ohio still treats abortion as a crime, and that reproductive justice affect more than just cis -women. Those of us who advocate for these rights need to continue to push the boundaries of what it means to truly have bodily autonomy.
- Q: What is your favorite ACLU memory?
- A: Being a guest speaker at the 2018 Columbus Women's March. It was such an empowering moment - the energy was truly palpable. I was inspired that thousands of Columbus residents (men, women, and children alike) came out to celebrate the anniversary of the Inaugural Women's March.
- Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?
- A: I would love to see the temples in the Siem Reap Province of Cambodia. I love to travel and this is an area of the world I have been wanting to visit for a long time.

- Q: What is the last movie you saw in the theaters?
- A: Phantom Thread
- Q: What TV show would you say is the best of all time?
- A: Star Trek the Next Generation. I watched when it originally aired and now I'm re-watching!
- Q: What are you most excited about in 2018? Work, otherwise, or both!
- A: Voting in the midterm elections, watching my dog Addie turn 14, and continuing the fight against systemic discrimination.
